Bedrooms: 5 Sleeps: 10 + 2 extra beds Area: A Estrada
Nestling in the small pretty village of Nigoi, this beautiful traditionally restored Galician Villa offers great accommodation and a variety of facilities to enjoy a perfect holiday in one of the most unspoilt areas of Galicia not far from Santiago de Compostela and the Galician coastline.
The villa looks out across its own private grounds of mature trees, lawns, landscaped gardens and swimming pool with terrace.
Although set off a rural lane and surrounded by open countryside, just walking distance we find a local shop and bar, whilst the larger bustling center of A Estrada is 5 minutes drive away.
The impressive UNESCO heritage site of Santiago de Compostela with its superb cathedral and wealth of local tapas bars and restaurants can be reached by way of a 20 minute drive.
This is a great villa with a spacious living area with open stone fire place, a large dinning table, fully equipped kitchen, reading area and with all 5 en-suite bedrooms, one of them with a great terrace overlooking the fantastic countryside scenery.
Awaiting to be enjoyed, the villa, also offers a private garden with pool, terrace, granite barbecue, children playground and a ping pong table. Perfect to enjoy lovely long summer days just sitting by the pool with a glass of wine and a good book and at night a BBQ with the great quality and priced Galician meat and fish.
The property itself offers its own "on request" catering services. These are ideal for families who wish to have dinners or breakfast served in the large annexed dining room (which also has its own separate kitchen for the cook).
We highly recommend to adventure yourselves into long walks around the village and down to the Roman church of Nigoi. No need for sign posting as the villagers in Spanish or Galego will be pleased to help you find your way back to the villa.
This is one of these places where it feels the time has stopped and the way of living remains the same from generations. The old lady walking her sheep to the pasture, the men in the local bar at night playing cards and drinking the local wine.... the lovely and relaxing village life to be discovered.

Info About the area:
Casa do Forno is located only five minutes from the bustling market town centre of A Estrada and it offers the luxury of being in the peaceful and picturesque setting of the mountains yet within minutes of the local attractions.
The A Estrada municipality boasts an abundant historical heritage including forts, cruceiros (carved stone crosses), Romanesque churches, and the manor houses scattered about the lands of the old Tabeirós. Among these manor houses, the most important is the showy Pazo de Oca, known for the splendid and carefully tended gardens that have given it the name Versailles of Galicia. The house has two floors, with large windows that open onto the gallery and look out over the gardens. It also has large rooms, paintings, and a characteristic Galician kitchen. Delicious salmon, eels, and trout can be caught in the rivers of A Estrada, not to mention tasted in the area’s restaurants, where they are exquisitely prepared for your dining pleasure. Fishing enthusiasts gather here every year at the town hall to participate in the International Salmon Fishing Contest held each May.
Museo do Pobo Estradense "Manuel Remóndez-Portela" Located in the old building of the municipal slaughterhouse, it occupies three buildings where a collection of some one hundred carpentry tools are exhibited, as well as personal keepsakes of Castelao, distinguished defender of Galician culture, and the reproduction of one classroom similar to those of the early 20th ct. In 1916 it is born in A Estrada Manuel Reimóndez Portela who was mainly a doctor -a village doctor, he called himself in the title of one of his books- so that all his life activity and creation was, directly or indirectly, related with a vocation generously performed for more than fifty years. Reimóndez has been a doctor and a man of letters, a man who adapted synthesis as the motto of his life: -all knowledge is about man, all knowledge is for man-. From this receptive and vital attitude, appears in him the urgent call of historic, ethnographic, toponimic and folk investigation that was reflected in different books. He has collaborated with the Centre of Tourist Initiatives and was given the Silver Medal for Tourist Merit. A man whose objective has always been the contribution to the spreading of culture, loved and tributed by his people. That is why his name was given to the "Museo do Pobo"
